This item is a vintage United States Yacht Ensign flag, commonly referred to as a “76” flag or a Betsy Ross variant with a fouled anchor.

•Design: It features 13 red and white stripes and 13 white stars arranged in a circle around a fouled anchor, typically representing the original colonies and nautical heritage.

•Usage: Historically, this design was used by licensed yachts to indicate they were exempt from certain custom duties when entering or leaving ports.

•Significance: While popular during the Centennial Exposition of 1876, similar designs have been used throughout American history to represent naval and yachting interests.
