Description

U.S. WWII M2 Pyrotechnic Pistol / Flare Gun.

The M2 model is a distinctive, compact signal pistol used by the U.S. military during World War II.

•Manufacturer: International Flare-Signal Co. of Tippecanoe City, Ohio. (later a division of Kilgore Inc.).

•Material: It was typically constructed of solid brass or bronze, often featuring a nickel or chrome plated finish as seen.

•Caliber: It was designed to fire 37mm”Driggs-Faber” type pyrotechnic signals, which were roughly 2 inches long.

•Design Features:

•Muzzle Loading: Unlike many flare guns that hinge open, this model is muzzle-loaded.

•Retaining Latch: A small brass latch or “gate” on the left side of the frame holds the rim of the flare casing in place.

•Grips: It features checkered composite or hard plastic grip plates, usually embossed with the manufacturer’s name and logo.

•Safety: Notably, this model includes a grip safety and uses a double-action mechanism.

•Overall condition is extremely nice considering its age.  Some wear / missing nickle / chrome plating (see pics).  Works as should.

•Bottom left portion of the grip is cracked. (See pic).
