The Remington Mark III is a single-shot, break-action flare pistol produced by the Remington Arms Company between 1915 and 1918 for use during World War I. It was primarily used by the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army Air Service for signaling purposes.
Key Specifications
•Caliber: 10-gauge flare.
•Barrel: 9-inch blued steel tip-up barrel.
•Frame: Distinctive golden brass frame.
•Grips: Smooth walnut or wood.
•Markings: Typically marked with “REMINGTON ARMS-UMC CO. INC., BRIDGEPORT, CONN. U.S.A.” and “MARK III” on the barrel or frame.
This is a “non-matching” frame / barrel, “price reflected”. Looks to have been re-blued at some point. No pitting or major scratches, there is some bluing fading on the right-side of the gun above the frame, possibly from being in a holster at some point (no holster included). The right wood grip is in very good shape, the left wood grip has some small chips / dents and about a 1/2” long vertical line / gouge in the lower part of the grip (see pics of wood grips).
Brass frame / grips looks to have been lacquered at some point in its lifetime.
Action works as should, cocks and fires, opens and closes.
