Signal Pistol Mark 5, R.F. Sedgley Inc. 1942

A World War II-date U.S. Navy Mk. V signal pistol, 6.0 inch barrel, 11.0 in. overall, & 5” height, utilizing 10-gauge flares. The rib along the top of the barrel is marked “Signale Pistol Mark 5 R.F. Sedgley, Inc.”, with the date “1942”

With its sheet metal frame the underside of the barrel is marked with the serial number “242692-A-2”

The checked grips once bore the initials “USN”, but have since been erased…..the firing mechanism and extractor both function as made. Lanyard ring, external hammer, action break release in-front of the trigger. The device shows wear, handling marks and oxidation overall commensurate with age and use, overall very good.
